Leadership of FWCUI meets the presidents of Workers’ Unions in Kirkuk and Tikrit

On Thursday March 2,2005, Samih Ashur, Deputy president of FWCUI met Mr.Ishu Lazar Ishu, president of the Federation of Workers’ Unions in Kirkuk and Mr. Zaidan Khalaf al-Dlemi, president of the Federation of Workers’ Unions in Tikrit at the FWCUI’s office in Baghdad.

Aofi Mathi, member of the executive bureau of the FWCUI, Falih Maktuf, legal representative of FWCUI and Saeed Nyama, president of the Mechanic Union in the FWCUI also attend the meeting.

The meeting discussed prospect of developing unionist struggle in Iraq, uniting workers, putting forward common demands and ways to defend these demands. They also discussed the possibility of both these federations joining FWCUI. Mr Ishu and al-Dlemi welcomed instructions and recommendations of the FWCUI and expressed their admiration for the FWCUI struggle and its endeavour to strengthen labour movement in Iraq and to represent the interests of whole working class across the country.
