Statement about the Successful Results of the
Nasiriyah Street-Vendors Sit-in
To the Unemployed and the Workers of Nasiriyah
We congratulate you with the first success of the toilers of Thee-Kar governorate - a success which resulted from the determined struggle of the oppressed and their true representatives the Union of Unemployed in Iraq.
The victory of the street-vendors in their negotiations with the authorities attained them part of their justful rights which the officials have denied continuously. They were offered an alternative location to set up their kiosks\carts on which they depend to support their families. This agreement is a first-timer in the recent history of our class struggles in this governorate and will mobilize more of the exploited and oppressed to come forward in unified ranks around their real representatives in order to demand their rights.
On such a day, we celebrated the solidarity among the workers and the unemployed, some from our city and others from the surrounding towns, many of whom want to have branches of the UUI in their towns too.
