Protest Letter of the members
of C3,
a New Orleans based community/anti-war organization
to US- Administration in Baghdad after
the arrest of Qasim Hadi and Adil Salih
November 23.2003
Paul Bremer
U.S. Civil administrator in Baghdad
C/o US-Embassy

Mr. Bremer: December 4, 2003
The members of C3, a New Orleans based community/anti-war organization,
demand the immediate and unconditional release of Qasim Hadi and Adil
Salih, leaders of the Union of the Unemployed of Iraq, from US prisons
in Baghdad. US military forces arrested these leaders the night of
November 23rd, 2003. This is the second time US occupation forces
have arrested Brother Hadj. In the summer Brother Hadi, president
of the UUI and 54 other UUI members were arrested for exercising their
democratic rights by carrying out a sit in front of your office--the
CPA (Civil Provincial Authority) in Baghdad.
The US administration doesn't only lack any legitimate right to arrest
these activists, but also has no right to occupy Iraq in the first
place and continue its terrorism and warfare against its people.
Thus, we join with the Union of the Unemployed in Iraq and other movements
supporting the self determination of the Iraqi people, in calling
for the immediate release of Brothers Hadi and Salih, and demand the
immediate departure of the US and all occupying forces from Iraq.
They should leave the country for its unions, women organizations
and progressive Iraqi people, who will defend their interests.
In solidarity with the Iraqi people.
